A bit about your behaviourist

It all started with a dog called Elsa.
When Hannah was 12 years old she got her first dog, a springer spaniel called Elsa (pictured). She quickly became the centre of Hannah's universe and as Elsa grew up and developed anxiety and a multitude of behaviour problems, Hannah started to learn about dog behaviour to help her understand Elsa.

Elsa had a big personality and even bigger feelings! Having bitten everyone in the family in various contexts and showing social sensitivities around other dogs, Hannah's life mission became helping Elsa.
In her later years Elsa was diagnosed with glaucoma and Hannah's training was put to the test as she helped train Elsa to prepare for eventual complete sight loss and eye removal, using special blacked out dog goggles to teach Elsa how to be brave and blind!

Hannah has a soft spot for the dogs that may not fit well into society, the ones who have big feelings, complex behaviours, special needs or disabilities.

About Hannah

Hannah has spent years honing her behaviour and training skills and knowledge.
After finishing her level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management, she went on to complete a BSc Hons Degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare.
The next 3 years were spent in Dogs Trust Essex's rescue kennels putting theory into practice, taking Scentwork courses and training the rescue dogs. Working with every kind of breed and personality type imaginable.

She then went on to work for the charity Medical Detection Dogs, training Medical Alert Assistance Dogs for those with life threatening conditions. This included running training classes and ultimately training dogs to be skilled life savers!

After Elsa passed away, Hannah was quickly drawn back to her love of working with rescue dogs and spent the next two years working as Dogs Trust Norfolk's Training and Behaviour Advisor. Working with dogs deemed challenging or presenting significant risk, training staff members and managing the training team. Along the way, she fostered more than 17 rescue dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Currently...

In her continued effort to learn as much as possible, Hannah began her MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour in 2023 and is looking to graduate at a PGDip level.

Hannah Currently works part time as a Rehabilitation, Training and Behaviour Advisor for the Blue Cross Suffolk centre.
Having worked for 3 different animal charities, she has spent over 7 years working with complex rescue dogs and loves a challenge!

With a passion to help, Hannah has worked and volunteered regionally and internationally. Having spent time in Romania, Spain, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Cyprus all with the aim of assisting rescues or projects. Most notably including assisting with mass vaccination drives for Mission Rabies, voluntary work at Animal S.O.S Sri Lanka and invitation to the International Companion Animal Welfare Conference (Cyprus) as an industry professional to run and present skilled workshops for international delegates.

Hannah has appeared on national news, TV and radio for various welfare or charity promotional campaigns.

Recently her work has extended to charities such as the RSPCA, helping assess complex cases, to Spirit of the Dog Rescue as a volunteer behaviourist and work with Bull Breed Behaviourist.

A particularly difficult rescue with a police escort of a traumatised 40kilo American bull dog led me swiftly to Hannah, and I am so very glad it did! Hannah's calm, logical and realistic approach to how this poor dog could be helped was the best investment by far, and from the moment Hannah left us, Babs journey back to normality and trust began. I would not of been able to do the dog justice without Hannah, and thanks to her we have progressed from a dog who punched me in the back of the leg on day one, to a dog who follows me wherever I go and takes preference to gentle commands over aggressive fear. We are now totally inseparable, just two months down the line! Absolutely incredible girl and I will be recommending to all who lose their way with dogs to give her a call to guide you through it, money more than well spent and I can't thank her enough.

Hannah has been an incredible support to us all since we adopted our golden retriever puppy, Willow, in early August.
Initially, we did not have the best of starts with Willow. She was underweight, & fearful of people & her surroundings.
At one point, we were seriously considering rehoming Willow, as there seemed too many obstacles to overcome.
By chance, we came across Hannah’s website & amazingly, Hannah was able to fit us in for one to one training very quickly.
It was clear from the start that Hannah loves what she does, & soon builds up a rapport with your pet.
Hannah has incredible patience & understanding, & always follows up her one to one training with a detailed plan which is super helpful.
We would not hesitate to recommend Hannah, & we know that should we encounter any further problems with Willow, that Hannah would be more than happy to help 🙂

Colin

Hannah is excellent at rectifying dog behaviour. She helped us with out rescued Cane Corso who had had a terrible start in life. Hannah visited us on many occasions, teaching us how to improve Harley, our damaged dog and getting involved herself.
We now have an amazing, 95% normal dog who is improving week by week.
We would recommend Hannah to any dog owner who is seriously loving their dog. Hannah has devoted her life to the study and behaviour of dogs which is obvious by the academic results she has earned.
